The Speaker of Parliament Sameer Suleiman has directed the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to submit its report on the inquiry into Amaryllis Hotel within seven days, signaling Parliament’s renewed push for accountability and transparency. Addressing the media in Lilongwe, Suleiman stressed that parliamentary committees are central to Malawi’s governance framework, empowered to investigate institutions, summon officials, and scrutinize the use of public resources. “Oversight is not fault-finding or witch-hunting. It is about ensuring that public policies are implemented as intended, that funds are used lawfully, and that institutions deliver services fairly and efficiently,” Suleiman said.
